Local Front Walkway Replacement| Concrete
Tired-Looking Concrete Walkway Replaced
CM Landscaping Services — Andover’s affordable landscaping company — recently replaced a concrete front walkway. Because the homeowners thought it was tired-looking & had begun to degrade. Which was bound to become a safety issue if not addressed. However, many homeowners replace front walkways simply to boost curb appeal. Adding financial value & lifestyle enjoyment to their home.
The image at the top of this post shows the front walkway before CM Landscaping Services replaced it. And below is the replacement walkway today. The homeowner opted for a more upscale look. And CM Landscaping Services installed a tiered stone walkway, integrating two sets of granite stairs.
Next up for the property, is a spring cleanup & landscaping improvements!
Front Walkway Replacement | After
Front Walkway Replacement for Safety Reasons
Over time, New England weather changes can wreak havoc on concrete walkways. For example, years of pouring rain can erode the soil underneath, causing the walkway to sink. And the freeze/thaw cycle of New England winters can negatively impact durability. So, when you see chips in the concrete and uneven, sunken steps, it really becomes a safety issue. Because these conditions increase the likelihood of people tripping on your property. And, thus, front stairs replacement is prudent. Especially if the homeowner is considering selling their property.
Front Walkway Replacement for Curb Appeal
Many homeowners replace their front stairs simply for aesthetics. After all, the entryway to your home starts well before the front door. And for this CM Landscaping Services project, the homeowner opted for a more upscale front walkway. Which incorporates granite steps and a highend stone walkway.
Maynor Talks Mulch & Why Your Landscape Needs It
Mulch Does More than Make Your Landscape Pretty
Maynor Chavez, CM Landscaping Services owner, says that many people think only about aesthetics when adding mulch to their landcape. Like which color will look best in their yard. But Maynor says, “Mulch actually serves more functions when it comes to maintaining a beautiful outdoor area.” And this post explains.
What Mulch Does
Mulch helps conserve and extend available water. And it protects soil from erosion. It also suppresses weeds, by reducing competition. And it protects your soil from temperature extremes, which can cause damage.
In practical terms, mulch serves as a visible barrier, or marker, to your garden areas. Which helps lawn care professionals from damaging your garden with landscape equipment.
Finally, mulch improves your soil’s health. Because it breaks down over time, releasing nutrients into your soil.
Things to Consider When Choosing a Mulch Color
Maynor says that black or dark mulch is a popular mulch color in the Andovers. This mulch is a shredded or screened mulch that is dyed with a non-toxic black colorant. Which creates a bold contrast in landscapes. Meaning that the dark color typically blends naturally into the landscape, allowing vibrant flowers to “pop” and the house to stand out more.
Black or Dark Mulch
As for natural or premium hemlock mulch, Maynor says it is highly acidic. Having a unique, natural odor that helps deter bugs from making a home in your garden.
Natural or Premium Hemlock Mulch
Maynor continued that red cedar mulch is known for its pleasant aroma. And its natural insect-repelling properties, which can help keep certain pests away from your plant and your home.
